I needed to update the old 6v heater blower motor with something 12v capable and not so old the insulation is falling off the wiring. The output shaft is longer and the mounting studs are also longer.
this might work
Looking at the other end, not identical but usable. You can see where some PO tried scabbing on butt connectors. Mounting studs are way long. Shouldn't be an issue as they won't be used.
So far, so good
The mounting plate the old motor bolted to also fits the new motor with no mods. The rubber isolators have seen better days, but I haven't found a good replacement, yet. Original nuts and washers do not fit the new studs, too small.
Spare hardware raid
Raided my stash of spare hardware for the right nuts and washers. One thing to do is mock up the complete assembly before you bolt things down to ensure you have the wires facing down when installed in the vehicle.
A squirrel is missing his wheel
I bolted up the blower wheel to the shaft, make sure everything clears, give it a spin with your hand. The wheel rubbed a touch when I first put it on.
Getting close
All bolted up to the housing ready to install in the vehicle.
Someone have a light?
Make sure the inside clearance to the housing is adequate and that nothing rubs.
You sure about that?
Looks like I have it wired backwards. I don't, I test fired it and it blows best with the motor's black wire hooked to 12v and the orange wire to ground.
Data plate
You can see the data plate information. Squirrel cage fans blow best in one direction, wire it properly for best airflow.
Success
All done but the cleanup.
Details, Details
Oh sure, I showed everything but the important part. What motor did I use? Application I used was 1965 Barracuda without AC. But it fits a lot of other vehicles.
